The Lovely Ladies of Legacy

The Lovely Ladies of Legacy is a mentor-ship group at Carver High School. Membership is based on teacher recommendations or the individual girls' willingness to make positive strives towards improvements. The process requires the completion of an application, attendance at a formal interest meeting, a typed detailed essay, an interview with a panel of advisers, and a two week process of learning the organizations history, principals, and expectations. The ladies many privileges such as a designated day to dress up in business attire to demonstrate to other students the proper way a lady should dress. The distinguished ladies participate in many community service projects throughput the year, volunteer within the school and in the community, all while maintaining good grades and making positive strides towards being a productive member. Some of the events which they participate in are: Toys for Tots, Adopt a Family Project, Volunteering at nursing homes/ VA Hospital, feeding the homeless, Pack a Purse Drive, Autism Awareness, Breast Cancer Walks/Relay for Life, hosting events and many more. The ladies meet weekly to discuss varies topics of self improvement such as college & career readiness, etiquette, leadership skills, interview techniques, family improvement, public speaking, college and career readiness, morals, values, self esteem, community service projects, positive work ethics, proper relationship with students/teachers, and overall how to maintain a good legacy as a young woman. The goal is for the ladies to leave behind a legacy they can be proud of.

 The expectation is represent self, family and Carver High in a positive manner at all times.

The premise of our group is to transform mindsets and empower young woman. We equip them with the necessary tool and resources to be successful. This sisterhood is the foundation for a healthy transition from high school to college and /or careers.
